2023 Nepal Photo Workshop

The Khumbu is calling.

The Nepal government just opened the Khumbu to fall climbing permits. We do not know if climbers and trekkers will be required to quarantine for fourteen days prior to entering the Khumbu or not. So far there have only been six cases of COVID in Lukla and none in the Khumbu so we are hopeful that our friends and colleagues in the high Khumbu will remain safe and unaffected.

The loss of the Everest climbing season has had a devastating effect on the local economy and the Sherpa people. We’ve been sending financial support to our friends so they can take care of basic needs and obtain food items they do not produce themselves. After our photo/adventure workshop we’ll be making a donation to the Sherpa and village of Phortse.

In the meantime check out Emily’s Instagram as she has been posting amazing images and stories out of Kathmandu. https://www.instagram.com/emilypolar/

Conducting our workshop is critical to the support of the community and many of the folks who work with us in the Khumbu. From the Sherpa to the yak drivers, porters, guest house owners and shop keepers they all depend on tourism. We are still planning our workshop and have a lot of time to see how things develop regarding access.
