In Nepal!

Having to cancel our March workshop was disappointing but understandable. Hopefully with vaccine becoming more available and flights beginning to open back up we can have the October / November workshop with out issue.

Doug and I decided to follow through with a trip to Nepal mainly to support the Nepal Down Syndrome Association and their plan for a March 21st International Down Syndrome event at Everest Base Camp. We are also laying the groundwork for our fall workshop. Our trek will be a bit expanded as we are looking at completing the 3 pass trek and incorporating Everest Base Camp for March 21. That will give us plenty of options for the fall.

It seems like we are the only Westerners in Kathmandu. We’ve seen a few others but with travel bans in place on the UK there are not many Westerners wandering the streets. Consequently as Doug put it we are the two gazelles that they let into the lion cage at the zoo. With Nepal in lockdown for over 10 months shop keepers, restaurants, and trinket peddlers are smelling fresh meat! Without thousands of other tourists to occupy their attention we have a trail of people trying to sell us something, get us into their restaurant or show us their art gallery for orphans. It’s overwhelming right now.

The people in general have not changed. They are outgoing, curious and eager to hear about how things are going in the rest of the world.

We are having meetings later today and looking to have some sports and portrait opportunities with Nepal Olympic and development athletes in a number of sports.

Stay tuned for more details!
